Step 1Not sure what an Infographic is?
Please watch this video as an informational tutorial related to the use of Infographics in the classroom . This video runs for 2:41 and is a great overview of how it could work for your classroom.
Overall you'll find that Infographics are half information and half visualization; a combination of research and resource. Not sold yet, according to Pearson, Prentice Hall more than half - actually around 65% - of your students are visual learners. |
Step 2
Infographics are not just for students. Teachers can create a wonderful poster for their room that shares information about the topics being studied in their courses. The one to the left was used in a Personal Finance class that shares the information that if you invest earlier in life your money will have greater value over time. What topic could you pick?

So ask yourself, what do I find fascinating about my course? What drew me to it in the first place? What may other people not know or hold misconceptions about regarding this particular subject area?
Assignment 1
To start the year off with something fresh on your walls you will be creating an Inforgraphic for your room. Your challenge is finding a way to convey some curriculum relevant information in a clear and visual way that students will be able to take in almost instantaneously and create an Inforgraphic. The Infographic to the left (music) will take you a tutorial on how to use Piktochart. Once you have completed your creation submit the link below and it will be printed up for you to start the beginning of the school year with fresh information for your students. Step 3Now that you know how the program actually works unleash the creativity on your students. You've got the experience and I'm sure you've probably thought of a couple ideas where it could be used for your students. To the right is an example of a corporate Infographic about our path to green.
Assignment 2
You will be creating or evolving one of your class lessons to incorporate an Infographic as a product. While Piktochart is not an APP it is compatible with mobile devices and allows students to create using their Internet browsers so don't restrict your lesson based on devices in your room. Please create using a Google Doc and share for "Anyone with a link can View" option. |
